Strip drain is used in tunnelling applications where groundwater needs to be diverted from the crown of the tunnel, along the shoulder and down the sidewall of the tunnel.

Strip Drains are manufactured from a high molecular weight high density polyethylene (HDPE) and is black in colour.
It is UV stabilised so that it will not degrade if stored before installation. HDPE will not be affected by any sort of acid or solvent.
As such, it cannot be glued and must be attached using mechanical fasteners such as power actuated nails, e.g. Hilti nails.

Flushing points are fitted at approximately waist height at the end of a run of strip drain.
These points fit have an angled tube to allow the entry of a rodding tool of similar to enable silt to be cleared from the strip drain should a blockage occur.
Flushing tubes are fitted to the outside of the strip drain (see photo) to assist with flushing operations should it be necessary.
